About the Welcomimg Committee

What does the Welcoming Committee do? Well, we welcome new members to EOK and make sure they get acclimated. We do this in a few ways.

1. We strive to post as many welcome comments as possible to each and every new member! We want every new member to know that we noticed them and that they are welcome. We also want to provide a quick suggestion of ways they could learn more about EOK.

2. We followup with inactive members to see if there is something they need. We do this via email, phone, text, etc. We just want them to know we're here and we care about them.

3. We try to attend as many EOK events as possible and physically greet members and welcome them to EOK. We also introduce members to other members to get them plugged in quicker.

The administrators get emails when some one asks to join. Steve is right they are showing up on the twitter feed although I think Kathi or Kerri may be pushing those out.  The members on the Ning site are shown in chronological order with newest being first.

They do show on twitter feed, that's better than emails.

I thought Karen Sprinkle mentioned emails going out indicating somehow had joined.  Am I missing those or have none gone out?

Welcome to the committee! Get started welcoming people ASAP!  We'll have a brief meeting at the next EOK meeting to get everyone on the same page and see if anyone has any cool ideas for the Welcoming Committee.

David, there isn't a great way to see when a member signed up for EOK. Laurel can export a CSV file with lots of information about each member and it contains when then joined. You guys could use that file to do some research. Also, you may want to use that file to do some graphing of EOK's demographics... Leo

Make sure you're posting welcome messages to all of the new members. Introduce yourself as a member of the EOK welcoming committee and ask if the new member needs anything? Try to make some introductions with other members based on their profile answers. Also, please consider friending new members to help get them started. ~Leo
