A Creative Way to Market

I recently ran into an inexpensive way to reach over 600 people in and around Tennessee, including East Tennessee. For the first time in its history, the *AAUW Tennessean* is offering space for paid advertising. For a year at only $15.00 you can reach hundreds of educated women and men with your message. Here’s how it works:

  • Send AAUW Tennessee your business card or your ad that is 2” x 3.5”

Grant For Entrepreneurship

Grants are funny things. Most grants are for organizations, with the exception being scholarships for individuals to go to school. It is almost unheard of for a foundation to offer a grant to an individual. This is an exception to the rule.

More Baby Chicks & Eggs

We still have 47 of our original 52 hens and they are real good layers. We have a new batch of 75 baby chicks that should be here early tomorrow. We currently have large and extra large white eggs for sale either by the dozen or by a flat. If you want some really good eggs feel free to call 983-0681 or email vvbell@comContinue

Cub Scouts

This time of year everyone seems to be selling something. Some sell coupon books, some sell wrapping paper, others sell candy, the list goes on and on. My nine year old is no exception. He is in cub scouts. They are selling popcorn and the funds go to help fund the troop activities for the year. His troop is fairly new and is located at a school that has a high percentage of free and reduce lunch families. The troop make-up is the same. They are selling popcorn, but they have an added twist. If… Continue

Farming

On the side, my husband and I do a little farming. This past year we invested in 52 white leghorn chicks. These are aggresive birds, but are good layers. They are now laying well and we have lots of white eggs for sale. These chickens are cage free, but not range free. They are kept in a chicken coop with a covered chicken run attached for them to go outside when they please. Before someone says "Oh we should let them run free" we have a lot of hawks in the area that were here before the chicken… Continue
