Bob Bradley has had a distinguished 25 year career in the media, entertainment and technology industries involving the development of innovative new products, as well as the rapid growth of established services through a variety of distribution channels. He is currently overseeing business development and strategy initiatives for Newsbreak & Active Media Project -- 2 Knoxville-based digital media startups.
Prior to Newsbreak & Active Media Project, Bob was Head of Content Partnerships at FLO TV, a live mobile television subsidiary of Qualcomm, Inc. that delivered full length and time shifted content to wireless devices from AT&T, Verizon and direct-to-consumer distribution channels. He led all negotiations in acquiring content from broadcast and cable networks, as well as various digital media, syndication and production studios.
He was also Senior Vice President of Affiliate Sales at Scripps Networks where he led a team of 40 sales and marketing professionals in the selling, distribution and marketing of Scripps’ portfolio of cable networks – Home & Garden Television, Food Network, DIY Network, Fine Living, Great American Country and Shop At Home to Linear Television, Video-on-Demand, Broadband and Wireless distribution platforms. His responsibilities included strategic and business planning, as well as direct negotiation of complex carriage agreements with Comcast, Time Warner, DirecTV, Echostar, Cox Communications, Charter Communication, and others representing over $510 million in value.
As Senior Vice President with The Walt Disney Company’s ABC Cable Networks Group, Bob had a lead role in the growth of ABC Family, Disney Channel, Toon Disney and SoapNet. With a team of 50, he led the growth of SoapNet, the fastest growing network in 2003-04, from 15 to 35 million subscribers. He also led the negotiations of retransmission consent agreements for 10 Disney owned and operated broadcast stations.
In addition, he was Senior Vice President at Landmark Communications’ The Weather Channel Networks, where he developed and launched several innovative weather services in Europe and Latin America. His work in western Europe lead to the launch of three 24-hour weather programming services reaching English, Dutch and Italian speaking homes in the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Italy, Holland and Belgium.
Bob began his career in Washington, D.C., where he worked in various sales and marketing capacities for Discovery Networks (Discovery Channel and TLC-The Learning Channel) and Group W Satellite Communications – Home Team Sports (Comcast Sports Mid-Atlantic Network).
Bob has a B.A. in Journalism-Advertising from the Manship School of Journalism at Louisiana State University.
