Profile Information

What do you do?
DesignSmith Visual Communications is a graphic design firm, focusing on technology, research, and engineering clients. We also publish books, including what happens after your book is in print! Lots of questions! We have answers!

Since I came from ORNL graphic arts, those kinds of companies are just a good fit. As clients brought jobs into the department, they would be assigned to one designer who worked in their own cubical, pulling in whatever help they might need. So since 1990, we work the same way in the DesignSmith studio where our database is our handpicked team to help "unveil your vision" to your market in whatever way you might need. We have scoured this area for the very best of everything and we're still growing. Together, we are ready for your next challenge!
Where can we find you on the web?

Who are you? Tell us a little about you...
I worked in the graphic arts departments of K-25 and then ORNL for 12 years. In 1990 my first daughter was born so I opened my own studio and kept on working, at the time contracting with the Y-12 Plant. My second daughter was born 3 years later and I worked for a time with businesses in the Knoxville area. Now focusing back to the types of clients I started with, I'm a member of Innovation Valley Technology Council, and ETEBA (Energy, Technology, Environmental Business Assoc.) Through various experiences and opportunities, I have come to realize that my ideal client is you. Why? I was trained by you.
My two daughters are the joy of my life. For fun I have a Quarter Horse mare, and I'm working on being a year-round gardener, featuring HUGE Aztec Blackberries, from which I make pies, and jam.
What role would you play in a startup?
Visionary, Designer
How can we contact you?
My contact information is on my web site, and I look forward to hearing from you!

DesignSmith and Bobbi Lee really helped us out at SensorMed. We are developing a new product and Bobbi created a very realistic concept drawing before we had anything to show our potential customers. She helped us unveil our vision in a timely manner.

Hey Barb:
Thanks for the kind words. No horse at this time. Spent a few years in Texas and this was a more recent picture of me in digital form.

Bobbi,

Thanks for the link; this is a cool technology. Here's a link that talks a little more about it and lets you test a similar technology.

hey I you're coming to the meeting tomorrow, I'd love to chat with you about KO, and how we might make consultants in oak ridge aware of the available resources. ;-)

I would think something like this would work.

It's a feeder that gets mounted on the outside of the cage through a rectangular opening in the side of the cage. You can open from outside and pour food in. You may have to make it a little more weather proof.

Bobbi, I've used the built-in time tracker with QuickBooks but I haven't used any of the 3rd party applications out on the net. The built-in one is pretty good for setting a timer while you work. I'll look around and let you know if I find something. Leo
