Hello all, I have yet been to one of the photographer groups which has got me thinking. I would be open to having a get together at my Studio. The studio is 80 by 80 by 24 with a psych and cove wall.…

This really isn't a shameless plug, but I've just added a wide format photo printer (HP Z3100 12 color machine) to better service some customers that I've had for years that do motorsports photograph…

Hey thanks Mr. Podlaha. The thing I love about photography is trying to capture the motion and feeling of something in 1/500th of a second and tell a whole story in one frame. One day I hope to reach that level so I can apply it to my films.

That's awesome, Justin!

I didn't know there was a photographers group until now. I'm more of a cinematographer than a photographer but I do take photographs. I have been taking HDR photographs for friends and family lately. Here is one example.

Meeting up for shoots sounds like fun and a learning experience.

Let's setup another shoot. Any ideas/suggestions? Meet for coffee, take some pictures of something, have fun! Sounds good to me.

Got a new dig camera, a Lumix G1. I love it. It's the new Micro Four/Thirds format. I won't get too much into the detail, you can read all about the camera and the format in the links (in the last sentence).

What really blows me away about this 12.1 megapixel gem, is that it makes "printing ready" images. I made that up, but basically I'm saying that the image quality is great straight from the cam. You can send them directly to a photo printer without any further processing.

A few years ago I first jumped to dig photography after 20 years of film and darkroom fun (amateur level). I was quite surprised how every photograph had to be (at the least) "auto enhanced" on pc software before it was worthy to be printed. Maybe I'm just picky, but that was a little disappointing. I'm glad that is finally going away. It's like the Lumix has the auto-enchance technology already built into the sensor.

Here's a pic I took yesterday in RAW format and saved as a much smaller jpg.

So far the cons I have about the camera: the live-view/LCD can be a bit slow and takes getting used to; and the supplied software is a little week - I found it difficult export a pic into something smaller and web friendly. (It annoys the heck out of me when I'm on Flickr and someone's photos are all 5megs in size.)

Contest sounds like a great idea. Also, I love the idea of some other shoots...like downtown or a more distant trip. EOK could help with some of the costs.

And...Yes, I've used picnik.com and love it!

Anyone using picnik.com?

If we want seasonal shots then I think downtown could be great! Krutch park is impressive with the blue lights, and the star of Bethlehem on Gay street is pretty cool also.

After several cold days a frozen over waterfall can have some "cool" images like Ramsey Cascades. The low light angle in the winter sunsets gives the arches in Big South Fork some striking colors.
The everglades is full of wildlife right now if anyone has a plane and would like to photograph alligators eating crabs and egrets..lol. BTW the photo contest sounds like a good idea, and could help promote EOK. 1st 2nd 3rd with honorable mention would recognize more participants.

Here's an idea, how about a photo contest? Maybe one themed for the holidays, winter, or Vols basketball, or whatever. We get the EOK members to vote via this site. Each photographer chips in $5 per entry, and winner takes all. All in good fun. Please reply if you like that idea!!
